New Release 1.6

OPENSPACE3D V1.6 : New release

With the addition of many virtual reality oriented tools, you can use new features such as the Oculus Rift and Leap Motion which are now managed by dedicated plugITs.
The use of yours external devices have been improved by a new VRPN client plugIT in partnership with AREVA TA and an other for your multi-touch tools using TUIO.
Kinect management is strengthen and include a head control to use it as a low cost head tracking system associated with the Oculus Rift and the use of OpenNI2 with Microsoft driver.

MORE REALISTIC DEPICTIONS

Renderings of the undersea world and underwater have been improved as well as the rendering of shadows, exposure control (HDR) and their managements.
You have new tools and physical settings to make your scenes more realistic.

YOU ASKED IT, WE INTEGRATED IT

Undo/Redo controller appear directly in the scene editor.
In FPS view, now you have a crouch system.
If you use multi-screen, you can choose on which screen you want to take the full screen mode.
A lot of optimizations and corrections have been included in the software.

Release 1.5 Available

OPENSPACE3D V1.5

This new version of OpenSpace3D contains a lot of new features.
The 3D rendering has been enhanced, ambient occlusion and new shadows techniques were added.
The editor have new plugITs, including the management of vehicles and constraints between objects in physics, and optimizations, in particular on projects loading side.
We have also created new demos and examples for a better understanding of OpenSpace3D.

NEW PLUGITS

New physics plugIT are available. The “Physic vehicle” allows the creation of vehicles from different objects, and the physic contraints plugITs like “ball and socket” or “hinge”.
“Area” plugIt allows to create a button with an activation delay, it can be used with the mouse or the Kinect to, for example, trigger an action with the hands.
“Animation switcher” permits to assign several animations to an object. You can easily create transitions between the animations of a character.
“PDFview” can open and control a PDF file into your application.

FIXES AND CHANGES

Many plugITs have benefited of improvements, taking in count the users feedback.
Some editor interfaces have been reworked, the rendering setting has been unified in one interface with the addition of ambient occlusion (SSAO) and HDR settings.
The shadows settings interface were simplified and permits to choose two new real time shadows techniques, PSSM (Parallel Split Shadow Map) and CSM (Cascaded Shadow Map).
A new release of the Kinect pack is also available, and now support the detection of the number of user fingers. Associated with the “gallery” or “object control” plugIT, it can be used to manipulate the pictures or an object with the hands.
The documentation has been updated.

DCNS TRAINING SCHOOL

A virtual environment interfaced with an e-learning platform

This new version of OpenSpace3D contains a lot of new features.
The 3D rendering has been enhanced, ambient occlusion and new shadows techniques were added.
The editor have new plugITs, including the management of vehicles and constraints between objects in physics, and optimizations, in particular on projects loading side.
We have also created new demos and examples for a better understanding of OpenSpace3D.

DCNS LMS3D Video

The Virtual School project is a 3D real-time application created for DCNS Group.
This project is part of a learning process which provide e-learning training courses for learners.

Students are immersed in an entertaining and interactive virtual environment, and can use this virtual space to walk their way through their educational paths.

The 3D real time application is linked to a LMS (“Learning Management System”) solution developed by STUDEC company. The LMS is a web application which provides access to training courses, allows the monitoring of pedagogical progress of students, and manages the content of the courses.

Users can interact with the virtual environment in various ways, which are:

– Navigate in the virtual environment
– Visualize the training courses from the gallery
– Visualize DCNS medias
– Display and manipulate DCNS products (models)
– Visualize the planning
– Visualize monitoring content
– Consult messages
– Chat with other students and with professors
– Switch to LMS web application

The application is made available to the end user in two different versions:

– In a classic desktop environment (workstation or laptop). The application is displayed in a web browser, navigation and interactions are done using keyboard and mouse.
– In an immersive environment (Virtual Reality room with video-projection on a Wallscreen). The application is displayed in full screen stereoscopy, the user navigates through the scene using the Wiimote and interacts with content through a Kinect camera.

PISE, Immersive Simulation Platform for job interviews

PISE video
PISE is a serious game simulating a job interview that immerses a person in a completely virtual environment to train him to control his emotions.

The candidate is equipped with sensors that measure facial expressions, heart rate, breathing, etc.., to infer his emotions. For its part, the recruiter is a virtual character whose behavior can be configured. The scenario of the interview, can be adapted to the reactions observed.

For the purposes of the project, this training tool is dedicated to job interview. But other usage scenarios such as taking public speaking, stress management or medical applications are already planned.

The project opens the way for a whole range of new uses of Affective Computing, a rapidly developing technology which today reached maturity.

PISE was fully developped using Openspace3D.
This project was developed by five partners: I-Maginer, project leader, ENOZONE, ISTIA LISA Angers, PerformanSe.
